Village of the Nissequogue

It was here that Richard "Bull" Smith's family grounded their boats and settled Smyth Fields
The town would later relocate to The Village of the Branch, bringing the small church with them.

Richard "Bull" Smith's son Obadiah Smith was buried here after drowning in the river in 1680
It is not know where Richard Smith was buried so later a memorial stone was placed here
Some other old names in this cemetery are Brewster, Floyd, and Spalding

This was the property of Daniel Smith son of Richard and the original house was just left of this one
For awhile there was a flat stone that marked the original front doorway

The Skidmore - Griffith Family Cemetery
Here also lies Lt. John Clark, 7th Reg. Conn Militia 1745 - 1837

Several various Smith family members paid to have this school house built in 1808

Just down the road from the school house is a small plot for Charles & Sarah Wheeler
