William Floyd Manor House

Up until the 1990's the Floyd family still held rights to hunt on the land
From the 1880's though the  1990's the house was mainly a Summer home and hunt lodge


Richard Floyd was one of the original patentees of the Township of Brookhaven
His son Nicholl married Tabitha Smith and built the house between 1718 and 1734
William Floyd was born in 1734 and lived here until 1803 when he moved to upstate New York


During the revolution William Floyd joined the Suffolk County Militia and became a Major General
He was elected from 1774 - 1776 to the Continental Congress representing New York
The British destroyed most of his property for this
